Placemats

In Room 3 we have been creating our placemats showing the four C's with our very own personalised photos from home or school to match each of the C's.

How we created them

We could choose if we wanted to make our placemats by hand on a paper template, on Comic Life or Pages with a digital template. Once we had decided how we wanted to do our placemat we set of to take our photos or choose images from online. We created a title and background. We got it checked  by Mrs King then sent it to the printer. We had to wait for laminating day before we could put them on our desk.

Here are two examples of our placemats.

S.O.L is where we choose what learning we do and when we do it. It is really fun because we get to spend a balance of time on certain things, and if we need to spend more time on it we can. It makes learning much easier because we can finish work to a high standard, and not have to worry about getting stopped. It allows us to get our work done, and allows Mrs King to work with other classmates. If we don't feel like doing our basic facts we can work on it later, and do something else like reading.
Mrs King also calls workshops for different reasons like working on times tables or how to write a poem. We have this because some of us don't know how to do something so instead of teaching the whole class she takes workshops.

Math Knowledge Building

We are using this website to personalise our Math Knowledge learning.

https://maths.prototec.co.nz/

It allows us to practise our number knowledge stage or tables.

Each day we are aiming to improve our speed and accuracy.

It is a good idea to start with lower stages to build confidence.

It is a free website you can access at home.

Marbled Name Art

Our first art task was to get messy with shaving foam and dye to create a name plaque.
It was fun scraping the foam away to reveal a colourful pattern.
We decided to arrange them like a brick wall. Come in and see how great they look!

Learning to Learn

Room 3 are enjoying getting to know each other. They are doing a great job of working together to develop their knowledge and understanding of our topic 'Learning to Learn'

Sharing ideas about numbers in our lives for Maths.

It is fun to record your thoughts on a whiteboard table!

We are using a Y chart to help us develop our understanding of what each of the 4 C's would look like, sound like and feel like in our classroom this year.
We are going to use this thinking to help us create our placemats.

Room 3s Learning will now be shared through Seesaw

Thank you for looking at our Blog  but we will no longer be using Blogger. Please log on to Seesaw to see our wonderful work!
